DOZENS of taxi drivers could be protected from violent thugs by new CCTV cameras in their cabs.
Kirklees Council will decide on Friday whether to spend £28,000 to install cameras in 100 cabs.There were 425 hate crimes against taxi drivers in Kirklees in the last year, as well as robberies, criminal damage and customers running off without paying.
A similar scheme in Sheffield brought down the crime rate against cabbies by 90%.
Leicester (BBC News) - A combination of Taxi Marshals patrolling the ranks, in coordination with CCTV recordings and the Police, has led to a reduction in late night anti social behaviour and violence

So you can see the technical details but what do you get as a user.
We will install the hard drive unit (normally in the boot) and as many cameras as you require, normaly one facing backwards watching the passenger area and one facing the driver, but upto 4 can be installed,these cameras are fitted with infra red illumination, this allows for recording at night.
we will install a small screen at the front of the vehicle which will show images from all the cameras installed.
The images are recorder with a time and date stamp and are saved onto a hard disk drive, the images can not be tampered with, but can be downloaded from the hard drive to your PC. this is so that should you need to present the images to the police they can see that all the images are protected and can not be edited in any way, the images will overwrite themselves once the hard drive becomes full.
